TRAP & RELEASE PROGRAMME

image.png

SURVEYS

Every spring, streamkeeper volunteers under the direction of the DFO Community Advisor, coordinate a trap and release programme to examine the  abundance  of fry and smaller fish in selected creeks. Up to12 traps are baited and laid in the evenings to be recovered the following morning. Trap occupants are identified, measured and recorded before being released unharmed. See the links below for the trapping survey results. The results assist us in monitoring the trend of overall creek health.
